Evangelism

Without evangelism, I believe a church loses its purpose. Evangelism is more than a program. For me, it is the joy of helping God’s family recognize daily opportunities to live out the Great Commission and giving them courage to share their faith wherever they are. In light of the Three Angels’ Messages, evangelism becomes even more vital: proclaiming the everlasting gospel, calling people to worship the Creator, warning against false systems of worship, and inviting all to stand firm in Christ’s righteousness. It is a culture, a community bound by love for Jesus and each other, so alive with the hope of His soon return that we cannot keep silent. To me, evangelism isn’t just an event; it’s a way of life, an urgent mission to prepare the world for the coming of our Lord.

Romans 10:14

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

— Matthew 28:19-20

For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

— Acts 4:20

I believe evangelism isn’t just a task; it’s the very reason for the Church. Romans 10:14 reminds me that someone once took the time to share the good news with me; and now I carry that same responsibility and joy. The words of Jesus in Matthew 28:19–20 aren’t just a distant commission; they emphasize a continual, active mission and are a living call for each of us to go, to teach, to baptize, to walk with people toward Jesus. And in Acts 4:20, I’m moved by the boldness of the early believers who couldn’t help but proclaim the truth that they had witnessed. Together, these scriptures affirm that evangelism is more than occasional outreach; it’s a lifestyle.

In 2014 I organized and preached my first mini evangelistic series in the country of Belize. By the last night there was standing room only and God worked mightily.

Here I am preaching the gospel in Mongolia in 2017. It was my first time working with a translator. This experience taught me a lot about keeping the messages that I share simple yet spiritually rich.

Earlier this year I had the privilege of baptizing Ray and Connie at the Pauls Valley Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Connie had been praying for years that her husband would come to a full understanding of the beautiful truths of God’s word. This baptism was the fruit of prayer, friendship, love, and Bible Study.

Back in 2023, a storm rolled through Ardmore in the night. The next morning, I coordinated several service projects (like the one shown here) to help our neighbors in the aftermath. It was a powerful moment of hands-on evangelism, as church members came together to meet real needs and show genuine care for our community.

Back in the fall of 2020, the Pauls Valley Church and I completed this shed for a recently widowed woman. To me, this is what evangelism looks like—serving others together in love and unity!

In 2021, I had the privilege of baptizing Bella Teal into the fold of Christ. We’re blessed to have this amazing young lady who loves Jesus as a member of the Ardmore Seventh-day Adventist Church. Today, Bella is actively serving our church as a staff member for Pathfinders!

This is me at the baptism of Bill and Jeannine after our 2024 Evangelistic Series in Ardmore. This beautiful couple was the fruit of a multiyear investment by the members of our church. Standing with this couple are two of our local leaders, Wils Teal and Kory Meidell, who were instrumental in introducing these wonderful people to our church family. Because of this, I invited them to join me in the baptismal tank in recognition of their dedication to soul winning.

The Porch Project

This video encapsulates the value of practical evangelism when we unite in service for others without expecting anything in return. This project was coordinated by one of my elders, Greg Simpson, back in 2022 and was widely supported by all generations of our church.

A Message the World Needs Now!

In this video, I share the power of the gospel to transform lives which is the real purpose and fruit of evangelism.

Evangelism Training

Evangelism is a lifelong process, one that never truly ends. Over the past five years of pastoral ministry, I’ve had the privilege of participating in several evangelism trainings. Among them, the most impactful ones have been the It Is Written and Voice of Prophecy trainings, both of which have equipped me with many practical tools and insights for engaging in the full cycle of evangelism. I’ve also found Louis Torres’ book, Gaining Decisions for Christ, to be especially valuable in helping guide others toward commitment.

Below is a record of some of the evangelistic series I’ve preached, and some of the resources that have been a blessing to my evangelistic calling as a pastor.

The work of God in this earth can never be finished until the men and women comprising our church membership rally to the work and unite their efforts with those of ministers and church officers.
